One thing you might not know about me yet: my husband is a musician (guitarist with the blondish hair and glasses in this) and plays in a band called Hexers. And I’m immensely proud of everything he does because I’m that kind of wife and he’s that good a musician. So this YouTube video was shot in a barber shop (swear to god) that routinely invites bands to perform in their space; they provide the five-camera taping, record the sound, sync and edit it all, and then give it to the band…for FREE. Talk about a nice group of barbers! Called “The Mug and Brush Sessions,” an archive is available here. But you can also view this great video of Hexers right now, courtesy of the good folks at The Mug and Brush:
That!!!…
was kick…
ASS!!!
p.s. lovin’ that Gibson he’s playing. Sweeeet-uh!
I’m so glad you liked it! How are you?? I need to visit your blog!
I’m doing well all things considered. Thank you for asking, it’s really sweet.
I work for my dad in a small accounting firm and we recently (about three weeks ago) had a long time employee quit. She was our one and only payroll clerk who did the payroll for our approx. 145 clients.
I’ve had to step in and attempt to keep that part of the business going along with doing my own stuff. I am so tired and mentally spent by the time i get home. I really was looking forward to participating in Writing 101 but I just don’t think I’ll be able to do it.
Besides that… I’m good. And you? : )
Oh, that sounds stressful! Hope you find a replacement soon. Really enjoyed your post, and left a comment there. Things here are great — trying to fit writing in at least twice a week. Need to check out Writing 101…I was late joining Blogging 101, so I’ll be my usual late-to-the-party self. 😉
So much fun–and awesome venue! My husband is a drummer, but hasn’t found anyone to play with here in Germany. 🙁
Thanks for checking it out, Jennifer. Hope your husband finds some fellow bandmates soon.
Great song and venue. A record shop in Troy where we used to live did something similar for local bands and I always thought it was such a good idea and way to support local music.
Troy, OH? That’s very cool. It is a great way to support local musicians…I love the spirit behind it all.
Troy in upstate NY. They had a wonderful row of antique and vintage shops that were part of an effort to regenerate the city. Wherever we’ve lived, we’ve tried to support local music. My hubby is in a band too so understand how important it is to share the love!
Wow! Paaaretty kick ass like the previous poster said. Always love some good (and original) indie rock. Thanks for sharing… definitely going to check out the archives.
Oh, I stopped by b/c I thought it was Scout’s birthday – if he’s there tell him HB!
It is Scoutie’s birthday. There’s a big party for her over on FB: https://www.facebook.com/scoutclubusa
Thanks so much for stopping by…really happy you liked the video!
So much talent there. I have friends in the Kalamazoo music scene that are always looking for venue gigs on their tours. Is there a website of the venue I could pass along?
Hiya Nate…Glad you liked it! The Mug and Brush isn’t really a live venue — they use it for shooting videos. But here is a decent guide to some Columbus spots: http://www.columbusalive.com/content/stories/2011/09/15/back-to-cool-columbus-music-venues-101.html
Jon’s band has played at Rumba, Carabar, and Ace of Cups, among others — all listed in the above link.
Really nice piece of Americana, would fit with the style of music on A Prairie Home Companion. Maybe your husband’s band could look into getting on there, playing on the stage with Garrison Keillor… 🙂
Meg– great, great fun. A wonderful concept, too.
Bobby! So good to see your name here. Glad you enjoyed the video. Miss you, sweet friend.
